Kimmie Smith, Principal

I am honored to serve as Principal of Legacy Elementary.  A lifelong resident of Bossier Parish, I am a proud product of Bossier Parish Schools!  After graduating from Louisiana Tech, I returned to Bossier and began my teaching career.  During my 25 years as an educator, I have taught students in Kindergarten through third grade.  In 2008, I joined a wonderful team as we opened the doors of Legacy Elementary. I served as Counselor for four years and then Assistant Principal for five years before being named Principal in 2017.

During my undergraduate studies, I heard the quote “Children do not care what you know, until they know that you care”.  This statement made a huge impact on my thoughts as an aspiring educator. It became the basis for my educational philosophy and has proven true throughout my career.  Life is about relationships and it is my desire to create an atmosphere where our students are loved and nurtured as they are encouraged and challenged to reach their greatest potential.  I believe that high expectations coupled with care and support will enable our students to become confident and successful.

On a personal note, I am married to Jason Smith and we have three children that keep us very busy.  Jason is the President and CEO of Citizens National Bank. Audrey, my oldest daughter, is a junior at Airline.  Addyson is an eighth grader at Cope and Austin is in the fifth grade here at Legacy. We are members at First Baptist Bossier where we are all very actively involved.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love to shop and travel!

I am so proud to serve the Legacy Elementary community.  It has been a true honor and privilege to watch our school as it has experienced unprecedented growth and become a shining star not only in Bossier Parish, but also in Louisiana!  I will continue to work hard to provide our students with the best educational experience. I look forward to partnering with you as your child grows and develops to instill a love for school and learning.  Please feel free to call on me at any time!

Kelle Ogilvie, Assistant Principal

My name is Kelle Ogilvie, and I am honored to serve as the assistant principal of Legacy Elementary. I am a product of the Bossier Parish School system. I graduated from Airline High School, then attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches where I received my graduate and undergraduate degrees in Education.

Before coming to Legacy, I taught at Benton High School for nine years. I then served as an ELA and Foreign Language Curriculum Coordinator for Bossier Parish for five years. I am so thankful to now have the opportunity to serve my community as assistant principal at Legacy for a second year.

My husband is Blake Ogilvie, and we have two daughters, Jennings (a Kindergartener at Legacy) and Jemma (almost two years old). I am passionate about assisting teachers and children, and feel honored to work with our incredible staff, wonderful students, and supportive parents. I am proud to be a bear!
